Why is this party all night? All night graduation parties were started in the 80s by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The purpose is to keep students safe while they are celebrating on the night of their graduation.

What will I be doing? We have all kinds of opportunities!

  • Want to be around the grads more? Try the casino or the gym with the obstacle courses.
  • Want to be around more adults? Volunteer in the food room, bag check room, etc.

What if my grad doesn’t want me there? There are plenty of ways to volunteer where you are less visible.

  • Bag check room–your grad will only see you if you happen to handle their belongings
  • Food room–Your grad will only see you when they come back to grab some food
  • Door monitors–these are away from the action but are very important
  • But actually, there is SO MUCH to do, your grad will not even notice you are there.

Pre-party options include:

  • Decorate the rec center before the event
  • Pick up food orders and help set up
  • Help with registration (checking in students) from 10:00p.m. to 12:00am

What if I don’t want to or can’t be around a lot of people? Door monitor is a great spot for you! There are multiple exits that require an adult to monitor at all times. We’ll provide a chair, you bring a book!

Can I take a break from my position during the night? Of course! You are always with other volunteers who can take over should you need to use the restroom, get a snack or just want to walk around to see what is happening in the building.

What if I can’t take June 6th off from work? You can still help!! Pre-party options include:

  • Decorate/set up the rec center before the event
  • Pick up food orders
  • Help with registration (checking in students) from 10:00p.m. to 12:00am

How many grads attend? Anywhere from 150 to 200 grads might attend.

How many parents usually volunteer? The more, the merrier! We need at least 50 parent volunteers so ask your friends to volunteer with you. It’s a lot of fun doing it with friends as well as a great way to meet new people.
